Starting A Home Business
Requires Education and Resources for Success
If you are thinking about starting a home business, then it is essential now and in the future, to educate yourself. One of the key differences with owning and developing your own business can be the support and training you get. It is all up to you! But it doesn't need to be difficult. Insights from others who have successfully started and run a home base business are readily available. Whether it is in books, via websites or through your local Business Owners Group - there is help out there no matter what your problem is.(And of course, SBI owners have an abundance of online business help and knowledge at their fingertips too.)
BOOKS
Here I have put together a selection of reading material that I see as the first step. You may choose to find more advanced and topic specific material for your home base business, but most of these books are more general in their content. Most of these are ones I have read and benefited from at different times and in different ways over the years. And they are not all specifically about starting a home business. Building a successful business requires commitment, vision, perseverance, a sense of humor, passion... just to get you started...
HOW COME THAT IDIOT'S RICH & I'M NOT?
Now that is quite a title! And it is quite a book!
Easy to read, clear messages and to the point - do you want to be rich... or not?
Just remember that being rich means different things to different people so don't let the term "rich" turn you off getting some great help.
I enjoyed this book so much that I am going to recommend another of Robert Shemin's books before I have even read it!
Robert Shemin is also well-known for his success in Real Estate, and has a number of titles about this subject - which he recommends as a wealth-building vehicle.
I have also found the "Rich Dad" series of books really practical and easy to read.
INSPIRATIONThe Wisdom of Tuscany Here is a wonderful book that I have found of benefit as an inspiration when starting a home business, as well as throughout the journey. For me it is a reminder of the choices you can make in life and the balance and enjoyment that can be found. Italian Joy There does seem to be a bit of an Italian theme to my reading... This is another inspirational book that effortlessly details what would have been a huge leap of faith and change in life for the author. For me it was an exciting reminder that it is never too late to do something new - and that courage is generally required!
WEBSITES
These are websites I use, sometimes quite frequently, to get information but also to test out business theories, strategies etc. This often gives me more confidence when implementing a new plan aimed at increasing business income. NEW ZEALAND INLAND REVENUE DEPARTMENT There is a huge amount of information here, plus some really helpful calculators. Calculators are great when you are trying to work out if extra money spent to earn extra income, will really translate into your being better off. Sometimes with government tax policies it can be one step forward, two steps back, if you lose other entitlements. It is important to recognize if the opportunity is worth the pain in the short term, for the gain in the long term. There will be an equivalent site for almost any country in the world and their Government Tax Department. NEW ZEALAND COMPANIES OFFICE There is so much you can do online now, including setting up your own legal company for a really minimal fee in New Zealand. Most lawyers and accountants will offer to do this for you - at a price, of course - but it really is pretty simple and cheap to do it yourself. As the rules will vary in every country, as well as for each persons individual circumstances, it is always advisable to get both accounting and legal advice.
INTEREST.CO.NZ This is a really up to date site, primarily based around Interest Rates for borrowed money in New Zealand. There is good honest commentary around the economy, and is a must for anyone with a mortgage, both property investors and homeowners. It is very relevant if you have borrowed money to start your home business - perhaps by borrowing against the equity in your home. Wherever you are in the world, if you have borrowed money, then you need to find a site relevant to you. Here at Home-Based-Business-Hub.com we would love to hear which sites you use and find helpful.
MY PERSONAL VIEWPOINT I use Amazon Online because it is easy to use, readily available and there is just such a vast selection of anything you might possibly want!Finding the answer you need does not always have to be difficult! If you have read a good book, or visited a great website about starting a home business - then let me know - so I can share it with others.
